Fort McDermott is in the south end of Spanish Fort, just above US Highway 31 bounded by Confederate Drive, Spanish Main Street, Rebel Road, and Cannonade Drive.
Fort McDermott, seen in this 2012 Google Earth image is heavily forested. Camp #11 is developing plans to clear underbrush in the fort.
This topographical map from the US Geological Survey of 2011 shows how it was strategically placed on the highest, most inaccessible bluff on the Eastern bank of Mobile Bay and the Blakeley River.
