Confederate rest in magnolia cemetery mobile, AL
Picture on a postcard sent March 18, 1906. At the center of Soldiers Rest is a monument that was unveiled April 27, 1874, by Admiral Raphael Semmes. Originally topped by a figure representing a Confederate soldier, the monument was struck by lightning in 1931 and the statue shattered. The bust of the statue was saved and placed on a monument to the Mobile Rifle Company at the southern edge of the Rest.
